It was a dramatic scene akin to a thriller movie plot...kidnapping, sodomy charges, impersonisation, Aids and a gas cylinder explosion threat!
A jobless Emirati literally kept policemen on their toes and evaded arrest by threatening to explode a gas cylinder if they were to get close to him, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Wednesday.
Cops arrived at his home after receiving reports that TAR, 47, was holding a Filipino illegally at his home.
First Corporal Marwan Abdullah testified that when he arrived at TAR's house there were a few men already gathered there because the accused was behaving abnormally.
As the policemen attempted to enter his house, he held up a gas cylinder and threatened to explode it.
Meanwhile, in the melee that ensued the Filipino managed to run out of his grabs.
Once the Filipino escaped unhurt, the police were ready to nab TAR.
That's when he fired his last salvo...He claimed to have AIDS. So the cops left after informing medics from the preventive medical department.
TAR was later arrested when he fell unconscious in a nearby restaurant, said the Abdullah.
The Filipino, lodged an official complaint with the police claiming that he was kidnapped by TAR, who claimed he was a CID. He took him to his house and attempted to sodomise him, he reported.
