Lawyer quits case of man who raped his daughter in RAK

A lawyer for an Asian man convicted of raping his 16-year-old daughter in Ras Al Khaimah quit the case, saying he could not defend a man involved in such a crime.

The Asian had been sentenced by a court of first instance to 25 years in prison after confessing to raping his daughter before he decided to appeal the sentence.

Newspapers said RAK’s appeal court on Tuesday adjourned hearings after the defence  lawyer told the judge he was quitting the case.

“I could not continue…this man has confessed to this crime, which is alien to this Muslim society,” Alittihad daily quoted the unnamed lawyer as saying.
