Maid burnt with cigarette by co-worker

A Bangladeshi domestic employee allegedly burnt his co-worker with a cigarette butt to force her to submit to sex, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
 
AR, 24, Indonesian housemaid, complained to her sponsor about repeated sexual harassments by the Bangladeshi worker.
 
AR attempted to stab herself because of the accused’s repeated harassment.
 
She complained that he initially asked her for her mobile phone number. Although she told him that she does not have a mobile, he continued harassing her by knocking on the door of her room at night.
 
“In one of the incidents, he asked me for sex and when I refused, he burnt my upper shoulder with a lighted cigarette butt and at the same time he strongly groped my breast. I managed to release myself, got into my room and locked the door behind me,” said the maid.
 
Following this incident, the maid informed her sponsor who asked her to lodge a complaint with the police.
 
Criminal Evidences reported that the maid was subject to a burn wound that could have resulted from a lighted cigarette.
 
The court will reconvene on December 15.
