Maid steals and flees from employer-cop

SB, a 40-year-old Indonesian maid, allegedly stole a mobile phone and some money from the house of her employer, a policeman, and ran away, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On May 14, Corporal SS, 33, Yemeni, returned home at around 6.30 in the morning and noticed that the maid was not at home.

“When I came home in the morning, I noticed that the maid was not around. Checking for her in the bedroom which she shared with my mother-in-law, we did not find her. Her luggage was also not there.  My mother-in-law noticed that her mobile phone that she kept under her pillow was missing.

“Searching the house for other missing things, I found out that the Dh6,000 that I saw in a drawer in my bedroom before leaving the house, was not there,” the policeman told investigators.

Police searched for the maid and arrested her.

The latter admitted only to stealing the mobile phone before she absconded.

The court will give its verdict on August 31.
