Man goes intoxicated to friends' trial

A man who attended the trial of his friends on drug charges was himself found to have taken drugs just as he left the court house in the Eastern UAE port of Khorfakkan.

Just after the judge announced the adjournment of hearings, the man walked out of the court house and headed for his car, unaware police were watching him because of his pale face and unbalanced walking.

He got behind the wheel, started the engine and drove away - not on the road but through the garbage bins on the pavement just near the court house.

“As he banged into the bins, police were on him. They found drugs in his pockets and tests later showed he had taken drugs while he was attending the trial of his friends. He came to court as a visitor and left as a criminal,” the semi-official daily Alittihad said.
