FJ, 29, an Emirati is accused of raping a woman he had promised to marry.

The Prosecution asked the Court to implement stiffest penalty against the accused. The victim FA, 24, a jobless Emirati woman told investigators that a couple of months ago she had received a text message. She had responded by asking for the identity of the sender as she did not know him.

“The sender called me after my reply and told me his name is Turkey, and told me some facts about himself. He claimed he is a divorcee and has a son and that he lives with his parents and has debts. Our relationship via text messages developed into admiration and love. He told me his real which started with ‘F’.

"The first time I saw him was when he came down to my house to collect a mobile phone set that I gave him as his own got damaged. I threw the phone to him through the car’s window and rushed back into my house.

"One day, I told him that there was a prospect fiancé so he asked me to meet him to discuss marriage. During mid-February, I went with my friends to Global village where he came and I rode his car without telling my friends.

"As he wanted to drive away I asked him to stay and talk in the same place, but he refused and continued driving to a deserted area claiming that he wanted to show me his family’s farm where he forcibly raped me in the car.

"Afterwards, he drove me back to the Global Village. I did not tell anyone about what had happened, however, they noticed that I was not in proper condition.

"I went back home and late at night I called a friend and told her what happened. I also talked to him and asked him to marry me but he kept on delaying the matter.

"As I had sustained injuries, I asked him to take me to a hospital and so he did. I went with him to the Iranian hospital where the doctor told me that I have some infection and I should be admitted to the hospital. I refused and went back home.

"I had to visit the hospital again because of the pain. Even in that condition, he wanted us to carry on with our intimate relationship.

"As he delayed our marriage, I lodged a complaint with the police. He asked me to drop the complaint or he would inform my mother about our relationship.

"Although I dropped the complaint which I lodged about a month after the rape, he called my mother and informed her about our relationship” She testified.

The victim’s friend LS 23, Emirati employee repeated the same testimony saying that the victim could not resist her rapist as she had a recent surgery in her shoulders.
