An Indian, clerk, was seriously wounded during his attempt to end brawl between friends in Dubai.

The 37-year-old victim, Akram Al Zain, clerik, told a Dubai court that on September 30, 2011 he saw few friends fighting each other in the street.

“I went to them and asked to end the fight and leave the place. One of the men asked me not to intervene but I advised them again not to fight. Then all of a sudden one of those involved in the brawl stabbed me with a knife. I shouted for help and my friends came to my rescue and called the police,” he testified.

The accused SAM, 24, stabbed him in the belly for intervening to end a brawl with other friends. The victim was rushed to hospital while all those who were involved in the fight were arrested.

The accused was convicted by the court on Monday and would serve two years in jail followed by deportation.

Police could not get the testimony of the victim immediately due to his bad health.

However, later he recognised the accused during an identification parade.

The hospital reported that the victim sustained a fatal stab that caused a 5 cm length wound. The wound was also deep and caused internal bleeding and cuts in the victim’s intestines.
