Manager raped job seeker under threat

A 24-year-old KMS, manager kidnapped a Filipina exploiting her need for a job by claiming offering her opportunity in his company and raped her under threat, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim, MFD, 24, visitor, testified that she had placed her CV on Dubizille.com. Four days later she received a call from KMS asking her to come over for an interview.

“On the next day, accompanied by my sister, I met him at the metro station behind Ibn Batuta Mall. He asked my sister to wait and I rode his car to the company. He got into a multi-storey parking lot where he stopped his car. We went into the building’s fifth floor. As he opened the door, I was shocked to see that it was a residential flat and not an office. My sister’s friend called me and I told her about my fear.  He took my mobile and switched it off telling me there is nothing to worry about. Then he asked for my CV. I gave it to him and asked him to drop me back at the mall.

“Instead, he pulled me by my hand into a bed room. I begged him to leave me and tried to call my sister. He snatched the mobile phone and threw it away and threatened that if I called for help, he will let his friends waiting downstairs rape me if I do not submit to his desire. He undressed me and had forcible sex. After he finished, he dropped me back at the mall,” she testified.

Her sister DDS, 34, telephone operator, testified that as she found her sister’s mobile switched off, she sent her a message on her Philippines SIM card. She called her and talked to the accused who asked her not to worry.

“I called her several times later but her mobile phone was switched off. Then she called me and was crying and told me that she had been raped, so I called the police. When he dropped her she was crying and he told me that he did not do anything to her and left the place,” DDS testified.

First Seargent Walid Juma testified that the accused confessed to taking the victim from Ibn Batuta Mall after seeing her CV on the Internet. He claimed that she wanted to work as a maid. He took her to his house and there he asked her to have sex for Dh4,000 and that she agreed. As he had paid her only Dh500, her sister got upset and called the police.

Two policemen who arrived at the mall following the notification testified that the victim was crying and reported rape, not consensual sex as the accused claimed.

The court adjourned the case to March 11.
