A British manager of Syrian origin allegedly turned his flat into a marijuana plant incubator, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

In June, police received information that FA, 39, possessed marijuana seeds which he planted in his house.

Police raided the flat and confronted the manager with the accusation.

The manager guided policemen to a microwave in the living room where he was keeping marijuana. He also led them to a bowl in the balcony where he kept the drug.

Police also confiscated a large quantity of marijuana besides seeds kept in plastic boxes.

A plant incubator which contained seedlings supplied with light, ventilation and water was found covered with a black sheet in a wardrobe.

The accused admitted to possessing and planting marijuana for personal use. He claimed that he had smuggled marijuana seeds through the airport from India.

CDs and books that teach who to grow marijuana at home were confiscated in his flat.

Urine test proved positive to marijuana.

The court will give its verdict on November 26.
