Massage centre robbers get 3-year jail

Three Asians, who posed as CID officers at a massage centre for women and stole cash, mobiles and tools including CCTV device by confining the workers, were awarded three-year jail by Dubai Court.

The Dubai Criminal Court ordered each culprit – AR, 30, Iranian, AS, 25, Indian, and AA, 27, Indian – to be deported after serving the jail term.

On April 5, 2015, five men entered the massage centre claiming to be CID officers and asked Moroccan masseur to present staff IDs, mobile phones, handbags and the centre’s licence.

“They asked us to get into one of the massage rooms. One of the attackers stood at the room’s door to prevent us from getting out or seeking help. He was holding cuffs in his hand and threatened me to arrest if I tried to get out. The other attackers were stealing our belongings. One of the attackers came and asked me to show him where the CCTV cameras are. When they were done stealing all the stuff, they locked us in the centre and left,” she testified before the court.

The Moroccan masseur lost Dh15,000 cash and two mobile phones in the robbery.

After the robbers had left, the workers called the centre’s owner to inform about the robbery.

Police investigated the complaint and arrested AR, 30, Iranian messenger, who admitted committing the crime.

He told police that had planned the robbery and received highest portion of the thefts.

He revealed during investigation that he spends money in nightclubs and meets his partners in a coffee shop.

Police arrested his Indian partners AS, 25, and AA, 27.

 The women recognised AR when shown to them via identification parade.
