Mentally ill Saudi kills family then himself

A 46-year-old Sudanese suffering from mental illness used a kitchen knife to slaughter his wife and three children aged between two and seven years before committing a suicide in Saudi Arabia, newspapers reported on Wednesday.

Police stormed the family’s apartment in the capital Riyadh after a relative reported that they are not answering his calls and that he was worried about them.

Police said they found the man, his wife and three children lying in a pool of blood, adding that preliminary forensic examination showed the man murdered his family before ending his own life in the same way.

Sabq newspaper said the relative told police that the man was suffering from psychological problems and that he had undergone treatment in the Kingdom.
