Mom of 4 wins divorce against abusive husband

The UAE’s top court upheld a previous sentence and divorced a mother of four from her husband because of his mistreatment of her.

Two courts had previously supported the woman’s plea for a divorce and ordered her husband to pay her Dh30,000 in backdated dowry plus alimony and other expenses for the children.

The unnamed husband appealed with the Federal Supreme Court, which upheld those sentences and granted divorce to the woman.

The court also allowed the mother to have custody of her four sons and one daughter, aged between 11 months and seven years.
