Office boy drives off with client's car from UAE dealer's showroom

MAI, a 27-year-old Bangladeshi office boy, allegedly stole a car from the showroom of his employer before absconding, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

AGK, 38, owner and manager of a showroom for used cars in Ras Al Khor, a testified that on March 1, 2011, a client brought a black BMW car of 2003 model to exhibit it in his showroom for sale.

“On July 4, the office boy drove the car out of the showroom at the end of the working day and absconded. I tried to call him several times on his mobile but it was switched off. So the theft was reported to the police,” he testified.

Khalid Mahmoud, 32, Pakistani salesman testified that on July 4, 2011 at around 7.30pm while was on duty at the car showroom of his employer, he saw MAI driving a BMW out of the showroom using its key.

“I later came to know from my employer that the accused had absconded,” he testified.

The accused was arrested early this year and referred to the court.

The court adjourned the case for verdict until April 16.
