One crushed; another plunges to death

Two tragic deaths on Monday has shocked the Indian community in the Emirates yet again. While reasons for one is not yet clear, an unfortunate municipality worker was crushed under a truck, when the driver reversed incorrectly.

Fatal fall

An Indian bachelor living in Al Nahda area of Sharjah died instantly after falling from the window of an eighth floor apartment on Monday morning.

However, the reason for his fall is shrouded in mystery. He was living with three other Indians in Al Maha Twin Towers.

“The man was living with three other bachelors, sharing a room with a colleague. In the morning, everybody was getting ready to go office.

Suddenly he fell through the window and died on the spot,” said a resident of an adjacent building.

It is suspected to be another suicide by a distressed Indian.

The three friends of the deceased are in police custody as part of the investigation.

Meanwhile, a source said the deceased had been sharing a room with a friend. "One pregnant lady was living with her family. She was send to India and only bachelors were living in the flat. Some of the bachelors are in police custody for questioning.”

More details are awaited.

“Police officials were seen at the site on Monday morning and the body has been shifted," said an employee of a company in the building.

“It is suspected to be a case of suicide. The deceased was distressed due to certain family issues,” said a source familiar with the case.

Worker crushed under garbage truck

In another tragedy, a worker was crushed to death by a waste collection truck, while it was dumping waste at the Municipality waste dump yard in Sonapur.

“The Indian worker was giving directions while the waste truck driver was reversing the vehicle. The driver reversed in the wrong direction and crushed the worker to death,” said a source familiar.

Dustman found dead under garbage

A dustman was found dead under the garbage in Dubai and police are waiting for the coroner’s report to determine the cause of death.

Colleagues had found the body under garbage near the big Municipality bins in Qusais and police sources said he could either been hit by a truck or have a heart attack, Albayan newspaper said.It said police had not yet identified the man adding that the body has been taken for forensic examination.

Asian commits suicide in RAK

An Asian committed suicide in Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday, reported Al Khaleej newspaper.

The 58-year-old man was found hung by his wife. The woman told investigating officials that she had gone out for some work. On returning she found her husband hanging by a rope from the ceiling.
