'Operation Eid' busts 18.5 kg of hashish in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi police seized 18.5 kg of hashish and arrested a dealer from another Gulf country during a raid on his house dubbed “Operation Eid.”

Police said they raided the house in the capital after receiving a tip-off that a dealer possesses a large quantity of narcotics and is trying to sell it in the local market.

A search resulted in the discovery of 18.5 kg if hashish concealed inside a car tyre while around Dh100,000 was seized in possession of the 38-year-old deader.

“It was a non-conventional operation especially as it came just after the end of an interior ministry awareness campaign against drugs,” CID director Colonel Rashid Mohammed Burasheed told local reporters on Wednesday.

He identified the dealer as only AS and said he had planned to distribute the drugs in the local market during the Eid holiday.
