Over 2,670 Tramadol pills seized from teen

Dubai police arrested a 19-year-old Emirati man for possessing more than 2,670 Tramadol drug pills. He confessed that he became drug dealer when he was 14.

Acting on a tip off, police raided the suspect’s house in the emirate and found the stuff, which he said would be distributed to customers.

“He told police that he began dealing and taking drugs when he was 14 years old,” said Major General Abdul Jalil Al Asmawi, head of the counter-drug department in Dubai. “He did this according to an advice by a friend who was in jail and who told him drugs are tranquilizers and stimulants.”

Quoted by Emirat Alyoum Arabic language daily, he said the defendant also spoke about his difficult family conditions as his father had abandoned them for another woman and stopped supporting his mother and children.

He said he used to take drugs before becoming a dealer for his bad need of money, adding that an Asian dealer had supplied him with narcotics.
