An overseas drug dealer implicated an Indian student below 21-years by making him pick up more than 4.4kg of heroin capsules buried in a sandy area underneath a lorry, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The Anti-Narcotics Department of Dubai Police received a tip off about a lorry parked in Al Muraqqabat area and that underneath it a quantity of heroin had been buried. Police assigned a squad to observe the lorry and arrest anyone who may come and pick up the drugs.

“A young man was seen talking over the mobile and approaching the lorry. He bent beneath it and started removing the sand. Then he picked up a sack and tried to move it out. We raided and arrested him,” said Captain Abdullah Hussain.

The youth, AS, Indian student, admitted that he had received a call from MJ who had asked him to pick up the drug tablets and to keep them with him until receiving further instruction.

Police searched in the same place and found three other sacks buried in the sand. Police found out that MJ was outside the country and that he was arrested by Abu Dhabi Police for a similar heroin drug capsules case.

AS was referred to the court accused of possessing for trade purpose 573 capsules that contained 4,464 gms of heroin.
