A Tajikistan national allegedly gave his passport to a countryman to help him flee the UAE after he was convicted of a crime, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On August 17, an officer at Dubai International Airport noticed differences in the facial features of the passenger in front of him and the picture on the passport he submitted.

When questioned, passenger AZ admitted that he is using another person’s passport for fleeing the UAE. AZ was proved to have been found guilty by a court.

AZ told investigators that FA had gave him his passport willingly and free of any charge to help him flee the UAE.

AZ was referred to the court accused of using another person’s passport for which the court sentenced him in February to six month in prison and ordered to be deported after serving his jail term.

Later, police arrested FA on the charge of criminal complicity. FA denied giving his passport to help a convicted person flee the UAE. He told the jury presided by Judge Izzat Abdul Ilah Mansour that his passport had been stolen and that he had reported the incident to the police.

The court will reconvene on June 2.
