Six Bangladeshis were sentenced to two years in prison for attacking a compatriot pedestrian with knives and robbing him after trickily dragging him by his leg into a building.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered the convicts to be deported after serving their jail terms.

According to the records, on January 1 at around 12 midnight, the victim MN, 28, Bangladeshi AC technician, was walking in the street alone at Eyal Nasser area when two people stopped him and offered him sex with women.

The asked me to empty my pocket and when I refused they hit me. Two of the attackers stabbed me several times with knives after which I fell unconscious. I woke up in hospital,” said the victim.

About three weeks later, police arrested MJ, 35, and questioning him, he revealed the identity of his accomplices: MY, 24, TI, 25, RH, 29, jobless and ND, 29, painter, and MM, 38, salesman.

MJ and MY told investigators that they were assigned by MM to drag the victim by his leg into the building.

MM had a financial relationship with the victim, they revealed.

Both the painter and the salesman had stabbed the victim and took Dh7,050 from his pocket.

Criminal Evidences reported that the wounds in the left arm of the victim had all features of fabricated wounds.  However, the forensic report was not certain about the nature of the wounds, that is, whether they were genuine or fabricated. It also noted that there were no wounds of defensive nature on the victim’s body.
