Dubai’s police seized six men who stole Dh1.4 million from an Asian dealer just after he withdrew the funds from the bank and headed for his car. Police are also trying to repatriate a 7th accomplice from a nearby Gulf country.

The seven masked men, including two Asians, had stalked the trader near the bank in Muraqbat area and waited for him to step out of the bank with his bag before attacking him with pepper spray.

They then pushed him into his car, snatched the bag and fled. Within 48 hours, they were in police grip after their car was filmed by security cameras.

“Most of them live in Sharjah…their apartment was raided with the help of police there and a bag containing Dh1.3 million was found in their possession,” said Brigadier Khalil al Mansoori, director of the criminal investment department.

He said the others had no identity papers while authorities are in contact with a neighbouring country to extradite the 7th defendant.
