An Emirati in his late forties who broke into a pharmacy with a juvenile, and stole medicines and a cash box which contained Dh2,520, was sentenced one year in jail by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.
According to the records, in December 2012, MA, 62, Egyptian pharmacist, received information from employees at the pharmacy about the theft.
“I went to the pharmacy and noticed the missing of psychological medicines including those under control by the Ministry of Health and that which must be dispensed only on medical prescription. The value of the missing medicines was Dh2,860. The thieves also stole the cash box which contained Dh2,520,” the pharmacist told investigators.
Police investigated the complaint and reached AI, 48, jobless, and MH who is being prosecuted by the juvenile court.
The juvenile had used a car rented by his mother and headed to the pharmacy along with AI. The two used a hammer to break the pharmacy’s front glass, broke in and stole the drugs and the cash box. Police confiscated a hammer, screw driver, a broken knife and gloves in their car.
