A Bangladeshi man has been arrested by Sharjah Police for possessing forged SIM cards and swindling people by convincing them they have hit the jackpot.

A total of 468 SIM cards from both du and etisalat as well as Dh13,900 were confiscated from his residence.

The 28-year-old suspect confessed to police and detailed on how he duped victims.

He would ring up unsuspecting people and inform them that they had won huge amounts of prize money from a telecoms company.

Colonel Jihad Sahoo, Director, Criminal Investigation Department, Sharjah Police, urged public to be wary of such calls.
