A prisoner at the central jail accuses his 29-year-old cell mate SAA of allegedly drugging and misbehaving with him, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The victim, SMR, 29, Iranian, testified that on September 3,  SAA who shares the cell with him offered him a cup of coffee laced with drugs.

He told the court: “I felt the coffee tasted bitter and I asked him the reason. He answered that he used another type of coffee. After drinking the coffee I felt very tired and sleepy. I usually do not sleep, I read the Quran until Fajer prayer. But that day I could not control. While I was sleeping I felt someone behind, pulling at my pant. I turned back and saw it was SAA. I asked him to stay away and he left and went to his bed. Then I went into deep sleep. I woke up very late around 11 am and was very tired and feeling dizzy and unwell. I suspected SAA must have sodomised me while I was asleep. The following day I informed the ward–in-charge who questioned SAA and he confessed to putting drugs in my coffee and sodomising me."

"Meanwhile, he threatened me saying that he will tell everyone that I took drugs. And other prisoners did not believe me because they said he was an imam,” he testified.

Second Lieutenant Mohammed Abdullah testified that the victim had told him the same details.

However, the victim contradicted himself once in court when he said that he had asked the accused to give him drugs and at another hearing he claimed that he did not know that the coffee had drugs.

Forensic reports claim no evidence that the victim had been regularly sodomised. It also reported that the amount of drugs found in his blood and urine were not sufficient to make him unconscious.

The accused denied that he sodomised the victim - either forcibly or consensually. But he confessed to giving him some tranquilizers.

The court will reconvene on January 21.
