A court in Ras Al Khaimah refused to approve the marriage of a 13-year-old Asian girl to a man without identity papers because of the girl’s small age.

The man asked the court last week to endorse the marriage after he obtained approval from the girl’s father, who was present at court.

“The court refused to approve the marriage on the grounds the girl is a minor and the couple must be at least 18 years old in accordance with UAE personal law,” the Sharjah-based Arabic language daily Alkhaleej said without identify the girl.

Cop pours hot water on little daughter

A Kuwait police corporal who had a heated argument with his wife took it on his five-year-old daughter by pouring hot water on her face.

Police arrested the corporal after his wife rushed their daughter to hospital, where she was treated for medium burns on the face and back.

The wife accused her husband of deliberately pouring boiling water on the girl but he denied the charges, saying the container fell on his daughter by accident.

Teen boy raped by friend

A 16-year-old Kuwaiti boy quickly agreed to a request by his friend, a member of the Gulf emirate’s national guard, to accompany him for a picnic outside the city, apparently not realizing his bad intentions.

“When they were in a deserted area, the man jumped on the boy and raped him…the boy told his father what happened and said he had not expected his friend to do this to him,” the Kuwait Arabic language daily Alwatan said.

It said the cop was arrested and would be tried on charges of raping a teenager.

Doctor jailed one year for illegal use of stamps

A criminal court in Abu Dhabi sentenced a doctor for one year in jail and ordered his deportation after he was convicted of illegally using hospital stamps to make money, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The unnamed doctor used the stamps of Sheikh Kahlifa Medical City to issue sick leaves and other illness certificates in return for money although he has already been sacked from his job, Emirat Alyoum said.

Police seized the doctor by sending an undercover to him after they were informed by the hospital management that he had not handed over the stamps.

The court also fined the doctor Dh50,000 on charges of acting as a representative of that hospital despite his sacking.

7 deported men to be deported again

Seven Asian men who had been deported from the UAE and sneaked back will be deported again. But this time they will have to pay Dh10,000 each.

The seven were captured by Coast Guards as they tried to enter the country illegally by sea through the northern emirate of Ras Al Khaimah although they had been deported before.

“The emirate’s immigration court fined each of them Dh10,000 and ordered their deportation again,” Alkhaleej daily said.

When in Kuwait…don’t celebrate Valentine's Day

An Arab man and his girlfriend in Kuwait seeking to mark Valentine Day their own way parked their car near a beach and launched a long process of kissing and hugging. When passers-by rebuked them, they just returned their rebuke.

“Finally, police were called to the area…when a policeman knocked at their car, the couple told him they were celebrating Valentine Day and were doing nothing wrong,” Alwatan daily said.

“The police then arrested the lovers and took them to the station on charges of indecent behavior and resisting police.”
