An Arab man in Ras Al Khaimah allegedly murdered his wife on Sunday evening because of ‘constant disputes for the last several years’.
The couple has two teenage daughters and a son.
According to Arabic dailies, the deceased’s son discovered the murder. When he returned from work he had to break open the door of the room as she was locked inside and saw his mother lying in a pool of blood.
Brigadier Abdullah Khamees Al Hadeedy, Director-General of Operations, Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that the department got a tip-off at 5.30pm and rescue team immediately rushed to the scene.
The room was in a mess, he said, with clothes and personal items scattered around and the police suspected a fight had occurred.
The 38-year-old woman had stab wounds on her body, which resulted in her death, confirmed forensic reports.
Al Hadeedy said the knife that was used for to commit the crime was discovered at the site. It was broken.
Initial investigations suspected the woman’s 47-year-old husband, after the police was informed by a person that he had received a call from the woman’s husband requesting him to take care of his kids because he had ‘killed his wife’ and also claimed that he was on his way to Abu Dhabi.
So, RAK Police in co-ordination with Abu Dhabi Police made arrangements to nab him before he fled the country.
He confessed to the Public Prosecution that he had committed the crime.
