Two Emiratis, one of who was a former employee of Tasjeel in Al Aweer, allegedly broke into its office and burgled a safe that contained Dh46,550, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The prosecution accused TAA, 41, ex-employee and RSJ, 21, student, of entering the office with the help of a duplicate key, breaking a safe with a drill and emptying it of money on October 15.

Second Lieutenant Hamad Eid testified that police suspected TAA while investigating the theft.

“After his arrest, TAA confessed to entering the Tasjeel office using a copied key and stealing Dh46,550 from the safe which he broke with the help of RSJ using a drill,” he testified.

The second accused, RSJ, also admitted to burgling Tasjeel’s offices with TAA who had been sacked by Tasjeel.

Police confiscated the drill that was used to break the safe.

The court will reconvene on March 3.
