A security guard allegedly lured a Filipina into a flat by claiming it is the waiting area of the building as she wanted to wait for a taxi, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

MRH, 30, Bangladeshi, is also accused of molesting the woman after confining her in the flat.

The victim, JF, 35, maid, testified that on July 27, at around 6.30am she went down the tower and asked the security guard about how to get a taxi. “He told me that it is Ramadan and it is difficult to get a taxi so early and told me it is not allowed to wait in the reception area and said the waiting area is on the 27th floor of the building.

“He entered the lift though I was hesitant to go with him. He said that I should not be scared because he is a security guard. I entered the lift and he opened a flat with a key he pulled from his pocket.  Again he assured to me that he is a security guard and I should not be scared of him.

“I told him if this flat is allocated for waiting, then he should give me the key.  When I entered the flat, I sat on a chair near the door but he forced me to sit on a sofa by pulling me by my hand.  When I sat on the sofa, he started molesting me. When he was undressing himself, I called my employer who returned my call after about two minutes.  I told my employer the number of the flat in which I was confined.

“When the security guard learnt that I had called someone, he opened the door and allowed me to go out and he stayed in. When I reached the reception area, I got a call from my employer who told me that the security guard is in the flat and no one is opening the door.  My employer then came to the building and asked for the guard who had confined me. After some time, my assaulter came down and my employer called the police,” she testified.

The victim’s employer PG, 37, an advertising artist, repeated the same testimony, adding that the security guard had denied the accusation, stressing that he has been a security guard  of the building for six months and that the maid’s claim is baseless.

YL, 26, Russian employee, testified that at the end of July, her father handed over his flat’s key to the reception to rent the flat. “A few days later, she received a call from the police who wanted to take fingerprints from the flat as a guard had confined and tried to molest a woman in that flat,” she testified.

The court will give its verdict on November 28.
