Two Bangladeshis allegedly offered to arrange sex for a pedestrian, but when he refused, they attacked and robbed him, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim, MM, 26, Ghanaian security employee, was walking in Aiyal Nasser street at around 10.45pm on Friday June 6 when a Bangladeshi said loudly: “Fifty dirham”.

“I thought that money fell from my pocket, so I looked around and continued walking as I did not find any note."

The man then explained to me saying: ‘No note has fallen... dig... dig... a lady upstairs... I ignored what he said and continued walking... after two steps someone held my clothes and pulled me back... I looked back and saw he was the man who was promoting sex...the attacker immediately surprised me with a hit to my head with a stick... another man intervened and pulled my wallet from my pocket... while the first one tried to hit me a second time... but I covered my bleeding head with my arm...the other attacker opened the wallet and emptied it before throwing it and running away with his accomplice,” the victim told investigators.

MM picked his wallet and found Dh1,540 stolen. He walked to Naif police station and reported the theft before he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Police investigated the complaint and learnt that the attackers roamed around at Aiyal Nasser area.

NM, 34, vegetable salesman and AR, 28, worker were arrested a week after the incident.

The victim recognised his attackers when shown to him via identification parade.
