A Pakistani salesman allegedly groped a 10-year-old girl in her building’s lift, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

After buying things from a shop in her building, the girl reached home very scared. Her mother, FY, 38, Algerian, noticed it and asked her about the reason.

“She told me that a man had hugged and kissed her and groped her private parts while she was in the lift. I opened the flat’s door looking for the man. When she saw a man coming out from the stair well, she pointed at him and told me he was the one. I shouted at him and rushed towards him. He went down on his knees and asked for forgiveness,” said the mother who informed the police.

SM, 38, salesman in the supermarket, told the police that he was delivering an order to a flat in the same building.

“I saw the girl in front of the lift and as I knew where she stayed, I pressed the button for her flat’s floor. I did not grope her but I hugged and kissed her out of my parental love for a little girl. However, as she pushed me away, I did not do anything else to her,” said the accused.

However, the little girl MA, 10,said she noticed the salesman was behind her and he tried to overtake her when getting into the building.

“When the lift came down, he asked me to get in but I refused. When he insisted, I got in. I noticed that he was not holding any order in his hand and did not press any button. I pressed the button of the 4th floor and as the door closed, he started hugging me and kissing all parts of my body including my chest and my private parts. I pushed him away as he wanted to kiss my lips. When the lift’s door opened, he left me. I rushed out of the lift and got into the house and told my mother,” the little girl told investigators.

The court will reconvene next month.
