An Indian salesman who caused damages of about Dh25,000 to his employer’s office while breaking into the company’s accounting office and stealing Dh2,000, was sentenced to six months in prison.

Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered VR, 23, to be deported after serving his jail term.On August 31, the store’s manager MB, 42, Indian, came to the office at around 6am.

He found out that the store was burgled and that the thief entered store through a small window in the washroom. The glass was broken and bloodstains were found on some broken pieces of glass.

From the window, the thief managed to enter the store and the accounting office after breaking the locks using a grinder in the store.

The thief also damaged CCTV cameras and tried to break the safes, causing damages to it.

However, as he did not succeed, he broke a drawer and stole Dh2,000 that was in it.

The manager lodged a complaint with the police who came and lifted fingerprints and tools used in the crime that were left at the scene.

Police found out that bloodstains on the safe belonged to the company’s salesman VR.

The manager told investigators that VR was assigned to work as a salesman. He used to take orders from clients and register them in the company’s computer system. He was also on training for some accounting work and knew daily revenues.

Police did not find any traces of other salesmen, so the accusation was made against VR only.
