A 25-year-old Pakistani technical supervisor, SMA, allegedly stole staff salaries and lent the money to his co-workers, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The company reported the theft of envelops that contained Dh16,615 and were kept in a drawer of an employee to pay salaries to the company staff.

The company’s accountant Sayed Mohammed, 35, Indian, testified that on October 12, one of the employees approached him to collect his salary.

“I was shocked to find that six envelops containing Dh16,650 for staff salaries were missing. I reported it to my senior who informed the police. I suspected SMA who on the same day lent Dh6,000 to his co-works. I am sure that he does not have this amount as his salary is little,” he testified.

Police confronted him with the theft and he confessed that he reached the office of SMK, accountant, who had left his desk open, and stole the envelops.

The accused confessed stealing the envelops and lending some of the money to his colleagues and spending the remaining amount, testified First Corporal Obaid Humaid.

The Court will issue its verdict on December 17.
