Taxi driver rapes mentally challenged girl

A Pakistani taxi driver allegedly raped a mentally retarded woman by pushing her into a room he had leased from a friend, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

According to the records, on November 7, the victim, ZM, from the Comoros Islands, reported being raped by a taxi driver at Fareej Al Marrar.

“I took a taxi from Sharjah and at Fareej Al Marrar the driver took me into a flat where he forced me to take off my dress and then had sex with me and left me in the same area,” the victim told First Lieutenant Obaid Dhaen.

Police went along with the victim to the flat and found out that AM, a 50-year-old Bangladeshi manager of a hotel in the area, had rented the flat to AF.

Two days later, police arrested AF, 33, in Hor Al Anz area.

DNA tests found sperms of the accused in the victim’s body. Forensic reported that the woman is not a virgin and that she had been sodomised several times.

The victim was referred to Rashid Hospital to check her mental and psychological status and whether her condition was a result of the rape.

Rashid Hospital reported that the woman is suffering from chronic mental retardation as a result of a road accident when she was two years old.

It also reported that the woman cannot be held responsible for her behaviour and acts and can be sexually exploited and abused.

The records did not mention anything about the woman’s age or her parents.

The taxi driver is accused of rape and the hotel manager is accused of helping the accused in committing his crime by offering the place for the act.

Head of Prosecution Mohammed Hussain asked the court to implement stiff penalty against the two accused.

The court will reconvene on May 29.
