An Asian private Quran teacher is on trial in Abu Dhabi on charges of raping his 14-year-old student at the boy’s home while the other family members were away, press reports said on Monday.
During recent hearings, the prosecutor asked court to enforce maximum punishment against the defendant, saying he had not taken into consideration his respected teaching job and the “sanctity of the holy book” which he teaches.
“This teacher also failed to respect the home which trusted him and used physical force to overpower the child and to threaten him to commit this crime,” the prosecutor said, according to Emarat Alyoum Arabic language daily.
The paper said the court session was to resume on Monday.
