Thief targeting victims inside cars nabbed

Sharjah police seized a Nigerian man using a knife to rob victims inside their cars after he violently resisted arrest, a newspaper said on Wednesday. 

Police succeeded in locating the Nigerian after carrying out his latest armed robbery against a man who was in his vehicle in the building car park. 

The man told police that an African stole around Dh1,050, his mobile phone and some cards and documents after threatening him with a knife while he was in his car at night. The man gave police the thief’s descriptions, which helped them identify him and locate his residence. 

In its report, Emirat Alyoum daily said the Nigerian was arrested at his flat although he put up tough resistance against police. 

“He confessed to having robbed money and mobile phones from other people inside their cars,” the paper said.
