Two jobless Emiratis along with two juveniles allegedly broke into a pharmacy and stole cash, some medicines and medical equipment, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

AIH, 41, and HAH, above 21, are also accused of taking drugs.

Mamdouh Abdul Ghani, 61, Egyptian pharmacist testified that at around 5.45am on December 1 he got a call from the watchman of the building, telling him that the front glass of the shop is broken and the door is open.

“I rushed to the pharmacy and found out that the cash box which contained Dh6,075 was missing. Some medicines and medical equipment for measuring sugar and blood pressure were also missing. The theft was reported to the police,” he testified.

Watchman Mohammed Moin, 55, Indian, testified that at around 4.30am he checked all the entrances including that of the pharmacy of the building in Mankhool.

“When I was walking towards the pharmacy, I saw a man run away when he saw me. Coming closer to the pharmacy, I saw its front glass was smashed, so I informed the pharmacist who came and found out about the missing things and cash,” he testified.

Second Lieutenant Fahed Abdullah testified that the police had arrested the suspected and confiscated the stolen medicines and cash from them.

“The accused admitted to using HAH’s mother’s car and heading towards the pharmacy. They said they broke the glass with a screw driver. AIH and HAH got into the pharmacy and stole the cash box and some medicines while the other two juveniles watched the area outside,” testified the officer.

Criminal Evidences reported that urine samples of the two accused were positive to some drugs.

The court will issue its sentence on April 25.
