Three drug smuggling attempts foiled in March

The Anti-Narcotics Department of Dubai Police foiled three attempts to smuggle in cocaine and heroin during March, a security source said.

Three Asian nationals, two men and a woman, were arrested.

In the first case, an East Asian woman in her thirties was arrested at Dubai International Airport. She had arrived from Sao Paulo in Brazil on her way to Oman. 1,212 grammes of cocaine was found concealed in her clothes.

She confessed that a friend had asked her to go to Brazil to bring some things in return for money and air ticket.

In the second case, an Asian man was arrested at Sharjah International Airport for swallowing 84 narcotic capsules. The accused released the capsules in Al Qasimi Hospital.

In the third case, a 30-year-old Asian was nabbed near the Al Aweer vegetable market while carrying a bag containing 150 capsules of heroin weighing 1,400 grammes.

The accused confessed to smuggling drugs from his country to Dubai in his intestines more than once.
