Three Pakistanis were sentenced to one year in jail each for breaking into a Toyota car worth Dh91,000 parked near Dubai’s Gold Souq at the Creek and stealing the vehicle.

The three convicts were also ordered to be deported after serving their jail terms.

According to the records, the car was owned by a company and was given to driver MS to use it for official work.

“On May 5, MS called me and told me that the car was not to be seen at the creek where he had parked it,” MJ, 44, Indian businessman testified. When MJ went to the location and did not find the car, he reported the theft to the police.

“I stopped the car at around 9.30pm on May 5 in the parking lot of the Gold Souq and went home which was close by. The next day morning, I went to the parking lot but did not find the car,” testified the driver.

Investigating the complaint and other similar thefts, police arrested SS who confessed to stealing the car with the help of two accomplices. He admitted that after breaking into the vehicle and starting its engine by cutting and connecting wires of the switch, he drove it to Al Madam in Sharjah while the other two followed him in their car. He confessed that he had sold the car to an Omani for Dh14,000.

Police later also arrested OA and KM, the two accomplices of SS.
