Three men caught hiding drugs in their system

Dubai Police helped bust an international network of drug smugglers by pasing on information to Malaysian authorities.

A Nigerian, a Malaysian and a Moroccan were closely watched by officials of Anti-narcotics department of Dubai Police after receiving reliable tip-off as they passed Dubai International Airport on their way to Kuala Lumpur.

The trio were smuggling drugs in their gut in return for some money, said police sources.

The 33-year-old Nigerian suspect was coming from Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He was held in Malaysia and 77 capsules of methamphetamine, weighing 1,253 grams was found in his stomach.

Another Nigerian suspect, 22, who arrived in Kuala Lumpur from Morocco via Dubai had swallowed 60 capsules comprising 986 grams of  methamphetamine.

The third suspect, a Nigerian, 35, from Tongo, who again transited through Dubai, had 196 grams of methamphetamine when he was arrested in Malaysia.

Police sources say it is a highly valuable drug. One gram of methamphetamine costs about Dh1,500.

Malaysian authorities appreciated the efforts of Dubai Anti-Narcotics Department in helping arrest the suspects red-handed.
