Trade licence renewed with forged leases

A Syrian businessman, who forged three lease agreements against which he was issued a trade licence and renewed the licence for two consecutive years, was sentenced to two years in jail.

FA, 34, was also ordered by the Dubai Criminal Court of Frist Instance to be deported after serving his jail term.

Dubai Municipality’s building inspection department discovered that the company does not exist at the given location, so investigations were launched.

OM, 35, legal representative at the civic body, was asked by the Building Department to double check on the location of a company which specialised in décor work as the department’s inspector discovered that the supplied address and lease registration certificate was not of the same company but of another one.

The legal representative checked with the Land Department on three lease agreements presented by the company for three consecutive years.

The Land Department reported that the three lease agreements were forged.

The property owner of the building testified that he had never signed any lease agreement with FA, owner of the company.

FA admitted that a typing centre employee, who is at large, had supplied him with lease agreements on which he had signed.

He also admitted that he had never occupied any of the three properties mentioned in the lease agreements and that he had renewed his trade licence twice using three different lease agreements.
