Trader arrested at Dubai airport hiding 1.5kgs cocaine in stomach

A 48-year-old Nigerian trader allegedly tried to smuggle 1.5 kilogrammes of cocaine in his stomach, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The accused was suspected upon his arrival at Dubai International Airport on September 20.

After searching his luggage, Inspection Officer Nader Al Marzouqi did not find anything. But the x-ray showed abnormal mass in his belly. After confronting him, he confessed smuggling 85 tablets studded with cocaine in his digestive organ. At around 5.15am the accused felt sever pain and released 17 tablets at the airport’s toilet. Later he was referred to the authorities concerned where he released the remaining numbers of tablets.

The Court will reconvene on December 5.
