Two Syrians allegedly stole a trailer stolen from a parking lot, changed its specifications and sold it, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

In August 2014, BS, 56, Indian businessman, informed the police about the missing of his company’s trailer which was parked by one of his drivers in a parking lot specified for such vehicles in Jebel Ali.

Police investigated the complaint and found out that the trailer is in Ajman and that the thieves were looking for a buyer.

Police arrested AM, 41, crane driver, whose mobile number was on the advertisement. AM claimed that he had bought the vehicle from a Pakistani who worked for a maintenance company. He presented a sale contract to prove his claim. He also supplied police with the seller’s number.

Police contacted the maintenance company which denied that any Pakistani worked for them and that they had never dealt in heavy vehicles.

It was proved that the contract which was attributed to the maintenance company was forged.

Police reached JS, Indian, who transported the vehicle from Jebel Ali to Ajman. Asking him about his relation with the vehicle, he admitted to transporting it following instructions of KA, 38, Syrian truck driver, who paid him Dh800 for the service.

The Indian denied knowing that the trailer was stolen. He revealed that he had transported a number of trailers for KA.

Police arrested KA who admitted to  theft of this trailer in favour of AM.

KA told the police that his role was to transport the vehicles to Ajman after AM breaks their locks and guides him to their locations.

The court will reconvene on June 17.
