Transit passenger held with 2kg cocaine in Dubai

An African woman has been arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Department of Dubai Police for allegedly smuggling in more than 2kilos of cocaine into the country.

She was arrested at Dubai International Airport, Terminal Three, while on transit from Sao Paulo to Nairobi.

The officials searched her following a tip-off. She had hidden the substances, which were wrapped in several packets, inside her shoes, underwear and some were even taped around her abdomen. More than one kg cocaine was found hidden in her shoes.

She told police officals that she was carrying the drugs for a man whom she befriended over the phone and never met. He offered her two-way flight tickets and $2,000 for delivering the drugs in Nairobi.

She has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
