A criminal Abu Dhabi court trying defendants blamed for the death of a four-year-old Indian school girl in the bus adjourned hearings to Dec 14 as three main culprits remained in custody, newspapers said on Thursday.

Naziha Ahmed was found dead on her school bus last month after she was forgotten by the bus driver and female school supervisor for several hours during the school day.

Police later arrested the driver, the supervisor and the bus transport company manager while the school head and the supervising teacher were freed on bail.

The prosecutor has charged the driver and the bus supervisor of negligence that led to Naziha’s death but the two denied responsibility. The school head and the teacher were also accused of failing to discover Naziha’s absence from school for that day while the transport company manager was accused of operating an unlicensed vehicle.

“I will not reconcile with any of those defendants…I just want to see them all punished,” the victim’s father Ahmed Nazir said.

A few days after Naziha’s death, Abu Dhabi’s education authorities decided to take over Al Worood private school and shut it down at the end of the current scholastic year.
