Two Syrian drivers were caught for possessing 34.1kg of amphetamine in 202,458 tablets, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Dubai Police Anti-Narcotics Department received a tip-off about KS, 24 and AH, 28 possessing drugs in order to distribute them.

After investigating the authenticity of the information, police arrested the two from their car in Al Muraqqabat area.

Police confiscated a big piece of luggage from the car, which contained large number of tablets, a police officer testified.

When the duo were confronted, the two claimed that the bag belonged to a third person called Abdul Rahman, a fugitive.

They also admitted that following the instructions of Abdul Rahman they were supposed to hand over the drugs to another person in the country.

They were supposed to be paid for their services.

Other officer repeated corroborative testimonies.
