A well-known UAE football player has been accused of raping a 12-year-old boy after the kid’s family reported the player to the police, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Authorities are currently questioning the player who belongs to a “first division club” on charges that he raped the boy in January, the Dubai-based Emarat Al Youm Arabic language daily said, quoting security sources.
“The accused will shortly be referred to the prosecutor after the completion of medical tests on the boy,” the paper said.
It gave no further details apart from saying the player is a “well-known footballer playing for a first division club” in one of the UAE emirates.
