Dubai Court of Cassation upheld the three-year jail term given to a GCC national singer in a rape case, reported 'Al Khaleej'.

In July 2013 the singer met the victim - 19-year-old French woman – at a beach party and he invited her to his home, where he allegedly assaulted and raped her.

The woman, in her statement, said that she had blacked out after consuming the beverage and woke up in hospital only to realise that she had been molested. Doctor who examined her later confirmed the fact.

Meanwhile, a police sergeant had testified in court that he had found the woman lying unconscious on a pavement in Al Barsha early morning at around 6.30am while he was exercising.

He rushed back home and brought along his wife who covered the victim first before informing police. The sergeant said the woman could hardly speak and seemed heavily intoxicated.

Later, during investigations the singer admitted to meeting the woman at the party, but he maintained that the following acts were consensual.
