DO, a 37-year-old jobless Nigerian allegedly possessed more than 10 kilos of heroin for trade purpose, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Police had received a tip-off that DO would soon receive a large quantity of heroin.
A first lieutenant notified the squad assigned to arrest the suspect that he is in a taxi at Al Mamzar area. Policemen raided the taxi as it stopped at a traffic light. A black bag that contained the drug with found next to the passenger.

DO confessed that he has received instruction from an overseas Nigerian called Odini to buy a bag a week before his arrest. Later, he gave him instructions to receive drugs from someone in the UAE.  Odini called him several times asking him to meet the deliverer at different areas but the deliverer had failed to appear each time.

“Odini asked me to go to Ajman’s fish market. There a man in a car waved his hand to me. He was wearing UAE national dress. I went to him and he showed me the drugs in a black sack next to him. I opened the car’s door and put the drugs in the bag and then I paid him Dh12,200 as requested by Odini and left the car.  I took a cab to Sharjah and then another one to Dubai where I was arrested,” he testified.

DO confessed that Odini was supposed to come to Dubai to collect the drugs from him.

The court will reconvene on July 4.
