The body of the American expatriate who committed suicide in one of Dubai's hotels on Sunday has been taken for forensic examination.

According to Arabic media reports, the 31-year-old was allegedly suffering from some psychological problems, which led to him taking his own life.

Earlier, Brigadier General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director-General, Department of Criminal Investigation Department, Dubai Police, had said initial investigations rule out any criminal activity.

The body was found on the bed with a cut on his left wrist and blood on the floor of the hotel room.

The deceased had been an UAE resident for the last four years and suffered from bouts of hysteria, added Al Mansouri.

Investigators found a sharp object in the washroom of the hotel room, which is suspected to have been used to inflict the cut on his wrist.

The hotel management learnt of the incident when they were forced to open the door with a spare key after all attempts to contact him proved futile.

According to AP reports the man in question is the son of a prominent Iranian conservative who ran against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2009.

Dubai police did not provide further details on the man's identity, but the Iranian website Tabnak, which is close to conservative Mohsen Rezaei, said that the politician's son Ahmad Rezaei died in Dubai's Gloria Hotel.

Prior to his return to Iran in 2005, Ahmad Rezaei had lived in the United States.

Mohsen Rezaei is secretary of Iran's powerful Expediency Council, an advisory body to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
