A fight between a restaurant manager and two students broke out after one of the students allegedly entered the female toilet, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday.

Both students — MM, 22, an Egyptian and SM, 23 an Emirati —face charges of assaulting the Lebanese manager MS, 37.

The duo caused him 5 per cent permanent disability, a forensic report claimed.

At around 12 midnight on July, 23, 2011, three youth went to have dinner in Al Koofa restaurant.

The guard at the gate told them that there was no vacant table.

The three agreed to wait, but then one of them went to the toilet.

The manager of the restaurant said that he pushed SM out of the restaurant as he saw him at the women toilet.

“As he refused to leave the women’s toilet area, I tried to push him out. We had a fight that resulted in the fracture of my wrist,” he testified.

Police Corporal AS testified that following a tip off that a brawl had erupted inside the restaurant he found two groups of people gathered outside.

Upon questioning, MS claimed he had seen SM entering the female toilet. He reportedly tried to get him out but the latter refused.

SM claimed he had entered the restaurant and requested to use the washroom. “I was astonished when MS attacked me and pushed me out of the restaurant. He and the workers beat me up along with MM,” claimed SM.
