An Indian visitor allegedly offered bribe to two inspectors of Road and Transport Authority of Dh800, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On May 14, at around 5pm, two RTA inspectors patrolling at Dubai International Airport terminal 2, noticed an Asian approach passengers from the airport and accompanying them to a sandy area where he had parked his car.

"We suspected that the man was offering illegal transport services for the group. We followed them until they reached to the man's car which was parked in a sandy area.

"After they all sat in the car we approached them. The driver claimed that the passengers were his friends and that he will drop them to Al Ain free of charge.

"However, the passengers admitted that they agreed to pay Dh200," said one of the two inspectors who communicated with the driver and passengers in Urdu.

KL, 34, admitted to transporting the passengers to Al Ain for Dh200.

While the inspector was issuing a fine the driver approached the officers.

The accused bent forward, pulled out money from his shirt and put it in the car.

"When I asked him what the money for was, he told me that this was against not issuing him a ticket," said inspector AA.

The two inspectors called the police who came and arrested KL.

Police found out that the car used was a rented car.

The court will reconvene on August 23.
